RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — An emergency room at St. Mary’s hospital was closed for several hours this weekend after hospital officials discovered a patient with bedbugs.
Judy Heilman, a Bon Secours spokeswoman, said the incident happened in the hospital’s triage center in the emergency department around 11 a.m Saturday.
The emergency room was closed for four hours, and an exterminator was called to treat the area.
Patients, who were moved to the pediatric emergency department, were offered showers.
The emergency room has since been reopened and operations are back to normal.

Former Va. Gov. Bob McDonnell, Wife Indicted for Corruption

RICHMOND, Va. — Bob McDonnell had just been elected governor of Virginia when a wealthy businessman who had donated the use of his private jet during the Republican’s campaign requested a meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York.

The governor-elect obliged and brought along his wife, Maureen, who told Jonnie Williams she needed a dress for the inauguration the following month, according to a federal indictment charging the couple with corruption and lying to investigators.

Williams agreed to buy her an Oscar de la Renta gown, but a Bob McDonnell aide said it would be inappropriate and nixed the idea, according to the indictment.

Woman shot in face overnight in Richmond

RICHMOND,Va. (WTVR) — A woman was shot in the face in the city’s Southside overnight.

According to Richmond police, the incident happened Sunday at 2:45 a.m. in the 4500 block of Mellenbeck Rd.

Officers responded to a call for an aggravated assault. When they arrived, they discovered a 48-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound to the face.

The victim was transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they have a known suspect.
