Former NFL, UT QB Vince Young Files For Bankruptcy

CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

HOUSTON (AP) – Former NFL and University of Texas quarterback Vince Young has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The petition was filed last week in a Houston federal bankruptcy court, listing Young with estimated assets between $500,001 and $1 million and liabilities between $1,001,000 and $10 million. The Houston Chronicle reports no specific details on Young’s assets and liabilities were immediately available.

The 30-year-old Young is fighting a pair of lawsuits stemming from a $1.8 million loan obtained in his name during the 2011 NFL lockout.

A court has granted a judgment against Young to Pro Player Funding, a New York company that made the loan.

Pro Player Funding has made several efforts in a Harris County state district court to enforce collection of the judgment, but those efforts remain pending.

Richard Sherman: ‘If You Want To Judge Me, I Can Handle It’

CBS Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The two teams in the Super Bowl were determined on Sunday, but that wasn’t the top story Monday morning.

Peyton Manning has a chance to win his second Super Bowl, but that wasn’t the stop story Monday morning.

The top story was about Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, whose post-game interviews were kept clean, but were loud, and often calling out 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

Sherman’s hyped up, cranked-up-to-eleven interview with Erin Andrews was unforgettable, whether you liked it or not.

When he sat down to explain it, Sherman was a little more eloquent.

Sherman wrote a piece for MMQB, a Sports Illustrated website, about the game, and his post-game comments.

“I ran over to Crabtree to shake his hand but he ignored me. I patted him, stuck out my hand and said, “Good game, good game.” That’s when he shoved my face, and that’s when I…

Kenny Miles Shines Light on Suicide

I95 Street Journal

Sports & Stuff

kenny-miles-self-inflictedI like to think I follow college football fairly closely, but I never heard of Kenny Miles before this week.

Until last year, Miles was a running back for South Carolina. He had a rather undistinguished playing career, rushing for 1,341 yards and four touchdowns, adding one touchdown reception, in four years. He graduated in May and began working for the SC Attorney General’s office.

What makes Miles special is what he did this week – he admitted to a suicide attempt. When police originally responded to a call in November, Miles claimed the bullet wound in his arm came from a robbery attempt. When police discovered the truth, he was charged with filing a false report. He then came clean and publicly admitted the wound was self-inflicted.

Ok, so maybe he isn’t the paragon of truth here; so he didn’t discuss his suicide attempt until he was called out…

Ex-Dolphin Davone Bess Arrested At Fort Lauderdale Airport

CBS Miami

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Davone Bess was arrested for assaulting an officer/firefighter Friday morning.

Bess, 28, was taken into custody by police at Fort Lauderdale International Airport around 6:19 a.m. Friday.

According to the arrest report, Bess was walking down the concourse acting, “irrationally, dancing, singing with his pants repeatedly falling down.”

The arrest report said Bess was asked by law enforcement if he was alright and gave no response. BSO said Bess then took a cup of coffee not belonging to him and squeezed the cup until the liquid poured over the officer’s uniform.

The arresting officer said Bess then took a fighting stance and the officer hit the football player with his ASP in the leg, but it had no effect.

The officer said Bess then took off his shirt, again took up a fighting stance, and refused repeated orders to get on…
