MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — One boy drowned, a second one was airlifted to a hospital after they were both pulled from a swimming pool on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship.

It happened Monday when the New York based Norwegian Breakaway was about 40 miles off Cape Lookout, North Carolina.

“We are extremely saddened and extend our deepest sympathies to the family during this very difficult time,” said the cruise line in a statement.

The Miami-based cruise line said a medical team on the ship performed CPR on the 4-year old boy after he was pulled from the pool to no avail.

“The older child that was revived is in stable condition and was airlifted by the US Coast Guard to the closest medical facility, accompanied by the child’s grandmother and a nurse from the ship. Norwegian’s care team is providing full assistance and support to the family,” according to a statement…
