TORONTO — Actors Jared Padalecki and LeVar Burton took some heat Sunday for their tweets about the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Hoffman was found in dead in a New York City apartment of a suspected drug overdose.
Padalecki, who stars in the made-in-Vancouver series Supernatural, tweeted: “‘Sad’ isn’t the word I’d use to describe a 46 year old man throwing his life away to drugs. ‘Senseless’ is more like it. ‘Stupid’.”
After coming under fire on social media, Padalecki deleted the tweet and offered clarification.
“I didn’t mean PSH is stupid or that addiction isnt a reality. I simply meant I have a different definition of ‘tragedy,'” he tweeted.
“When I think ‘tragedy’, I think of St Judes, of genocide, of articles I read in the paper. But, yes, either way, a death, is sad.”
