CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Items including Michael Jordan’s University of North Carolina diploma and recruiting letters from coach Dean Smith are being auctioned off.

The Charlotte Observer reported that the items once hung on the wall of “Michael Jordan’s 23” restaurant in Chapel Hill.

When the eatery closed in 2003, the items were stored in a locker. Jordan now owns the Charlotte Bobcats.

Goldin Auctions founder Ken Goldin said he has had the documents authenticated.

The opening bid for the diploma is $7,500, with the transcript opening at $1,000. The Smith letter opened at $5,000; the Guthridge letter at $2,500.

Bidding continues through Feb. 7 at http://www.goldinauctions.com.
